Introduction to Leather - Spring 2019

Registration for SPRING classes begins at noon on December 3rd.*  (*Registration must start on a week day.)

Two weeks of this course will be a very basic introduction to tooling and working with vegetable tanned (or hard leathers).  The rest of the course will focus on working with soft leathers, basic pattern making and various hand construction methods for pouches and bags.  Half of our time will be spent on simple class projects introducing you to various tools and techniques, while the other half will be open for you to pursue projects of your own interest or creation.

Cost:   $250     *Covers all materials (with option of purchasing additional).

Evenlight is a local leather artisan, who has been working with leather since 1988. She specializes in environmentally sensitive leathers, and most of her experience is focused on hand stitching and construction methods.  Her area of specialization over the years has been in the creation of bags and accessories.


Registration will begin on the following dates and will remain open until the class fills or three working days before the class starts, whichever comes first:

  • SPRING SESSION 2019:  December 3 at noon
  • SUMMER SESSION 2019:  May 1 at noon
  • FALL SESSION 2019:  August 12 at noon

PLEASE NOTE: You may cancel a craft class up to two weeks before the class begins, with a $30 cancellation fee assessed. No refunds are allowed within two weeks of the start date, nor after the class begins.

PLEASE NOTE: Most classes meet over multiple weeks. Registration for each class is open until the class fills or until 1 week before the class begins, whichever comes first. If you miss the registration for this semester we hope you will consider taking this class the next time it is offered.
