Carol King has been a member of the Boone, NC community since 1977 where she started her education at Appalachian State University. After starting her family, she completed her BS in Mathematics at Lees McRae College, with a concentration in Middle Grades, and later completed her Secondary Ed Certification from ASU. She has taught in a number of Watauga County schools, ending the last 12 years of her career at Watauga High School. During this time, Carol picked up an interest in ceramics as a means of recreation and creative expression. This began in 2001 with her first pottery class taught by Bob Meier. The following year she began running Open Studios for him at Doe Ridge Pottery. She has also taken advantage of working with a number of successful potters over the years. Her work continued to improve and take on its own uniqueness, so in 2009 she began selling her work. Teaching has always been a second nature for Carol, and she is excited about sharing her love of the craft and the techniques she has learned over the years. Her work can be seen at Doe Ridge Pottery Gallery in Historic Downtown Boone.
