Becki Henderson-Gow taught art in the public schools for over twenty-five years. The last twelve years of her teaching career focused on teaching high school students the joys and fundamental techniques of pottery and photography. She received her Master of Art Education degree in 1999 from Winthrop University and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Dordt College. She lived and worked in the Midwest before moving to North Carolina in 1987. She has lived in the southern Appalachian Mountains for the past fifteen years where she is currently working in her personal studio, Red Salamander Pottery, as a potter. Her work consists of wheel thrown stoneware pottery for functional use in the home.
