This eight week class is open to students who have completed at least two Craft Enrichment Beginning Pottery classes or at least 16 weeks in an equivalent program.
Craft Enrichment pottery classes draw on the individual technical and aesthetic interests of each instructor. Through group instruction, hands-on experiences and individual help, students will expand their knowledge. The focus of this class is to further develop skills on the potters wheel refining forms, handles, feet and lids. A variety of surface designs will also be explored. A variety of clays and glazes are available for Cone 6 oxidation firing.
Supplies
Each registered student will receive 1 (25lb) bag of clay. Additional clay can be purchased through our website. Students are expected to bring their own pottery tools that would include a Wire Clay Cutter, a Sponge, a Steel Scraper, a Potter’s Rib, a Loop Tool, a Needle Tool, and a Boxwood Modeling Tool. Students should bring to the first class the basic pottery tool kit purchased for Beginning Pottery class (listed above). Additional tools needed will be discussed at the first class once it is determined if the student will work on the wheel or hand build.
