Beginning Watercolor Painting --Summer, 2018

For beginners who want to know the nitty-gritty about watercolor painting, this class will focus on materials, colors, composition, and techniques. Bring a photo or an idea, and you will get to test what you learn in a painting. By the last session, you will have the background to continue painting on your own or to confidently attend more focused watercolor classes.

Monday through Friday, June 25 -- June 29  (5 consecutive days)
1:00 pm -- 4:00 pm

Supplies: You will be providing your own paint, paper, and brushes.  Bring what you have, but do not go out and buy anything.  During the first class we will discuss the minimum quality materials, so you can buy things that will enhance your painting experience. 

REGISTRATION:  Registration begins at noon on the dates below, and remains open until the class fills or until three working days before the class begins, whichever comes first. If a date below falls on a weekend or a holiday, registration will open on the first working day after this date:

  • SUMMER SESSION 2019:  May 1 at noon
  • FALL SESSION 2019:  August 12 at noon
  • SPRING SESSION 2019:  December 3 at noon

PLEASE NOTE: You may cancel a craft class up to two weeks before the class begins, with a $30 cancellation fee assessed. No refunds are allowed within two weeks of the start date, nor after the class begins.

JoAnn Pippin, SW,  paints transparent watercolors of natural surroundings, close-up florals, and interior scenes in a creative representational style, and she is noted for her strong use of color and composition. Primarily educated at the Torpedo Factory School in Alexandria, Virginia, she has focused on watercolor painting for 20 years.

PLEASE NOTE: Most classes meet over multiple weeks. Registration for each class is open until the class fills or until three working days before the class begins, whichever comes first.
