Seasonal Landscapes in Watercolor

Description

Description

If you are inspired to paint the exceptional High Country scenery that surrounds us, join JoAnn Pippin to learn watercolor tips and techniques especially focused on landscapes. We will paint four scenes, one for each season.  There will be a weekly recorded demonstration, a reference photo, and a transferable drawing for you to download and follow along with to paint a compelling scene. You will learn to plan compositions, choose colors to create moods, and use both brush and non-brush techniques to imitate nature.

This class is for students with some experience.

Format

Online, featuring a mix of 4 recorded demonstration sessions and 5 live online sessions.   Recorded sessions will feature a demonstration of a fall, winter, spring or summer scene. You will be able to replay the recording as you paint the demonstration painting or similar subjects. You will then send images of your work(s) to the instructor via email.  JoAnn will review the work in a weekly live critique.  The first class is a live session devoted to questions about supplies and equipment.

Supplies

Watercolor brushes, paper, and paints with a warm and a cool version of each primary color and the neutral colors Payne’s gray and burnt sienna. Waterproof backboard such as Gatorboard, neutral masking tape.  Also a palette that can be closed airtight with space to mix colors.  Water containers, spray bottle, paper towels, small toilet paper roll, stapler, scissors.  For non-brush techniques, masking fluid, drinking straws, a wine cork, paper clips, kosher and table salt, and an old credit card are good tools.  Email JoAnn for paint and brush suggestions.

Equipment

Internet Connection and the ability to download Zoom.  Computer or tablet, or phone with screen large enough to view demonstrations.
