Painting & Mixed Media - Watercolor

If you are inspired to paint the exceptional High Country scenery that surrounds us or a view you photographed while travelling, join JoAnn Pippin to learn watercolor tips and techniques especially focused on landscapes. You will learn to plan compelling compositions using your reference photos, choose colors to create mood, and use both brush and non-brush techniques to create a satisfying watercolor painting. This class is for students who have watercolor paints and want to paint a watercolor they will be proud of.

Beginner Watercolor

This class is designed for students who have never painted with watercolors before. It will cover a description of and demonstration of the basic materials and techniques, as well as the important elements of painting, such as structure, composition, and color theory. The end goal of the class is to complete at least two full paintings.

Classes will incorporate lecture/demonstration time as well as studio time.

No experience is necessary, although a rudimentary ability to draw is very important.

Painting Flowers in Watercolor

The flowing nature of watercolors naturally relates to painting flowers and floral arrangements.   Though the subject may seem simple, there are many subtle techniques and composition elements to consider.  Guided by recorded demonstrations, you will work to produce 4 paintings, then receive live comment and advice in weekly interactive Zoom sessions.  This class is for students with some watercolor experience.
