Jami Pierce is an artist from Raleigh, NC. She earned her associates in Fine Art, then moved to Boone to pursue a Bachelors in Product Design. She has a passion for making that started in painting then later spread to clay. Jami is involved in ceramics at both App State and the Boone area and is excited to grow her craft through teaching. She has taken several ceramics classes and now works at Doe Ridge Pottery on King Street. After acting as the TA for Bob Meier, she is excited to expand and teach her own class. She is looking forward to the opportunity to provide a creative space and share techniques with students. She is specifically interested in molds and slip casting to create functional work that can be made quickly and repeatedly. Jami has had the opportunity to work with multiple established potters in the Boone area and is excited to teach students about the handbuilding and slip casting processes to help establish their own creative work.
