Genal West

As a practicing artist, teacher, mother of 2, and wife of a musician, my interests are all over the map. I started my photo habit with a Crime Scene Photography class in an Eastern NC community college just after high school. After moving to Virginia Beach, I spent time developing film in the darkroom at the Visual Arts Center in Portsmouth Virginia before transferring to a digital lab and Photoshop at Old Dominion University, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Art with a double major in Print/Photo Media and Art Education with a teaching license. This was followed by a Masters of Science in Education with a concentration in Educational/Instructional Media from Wilkes University. I have taught Visual Art, AP Art History, and Photography for Kindergarten through 12th-grade students over the last 15 years both in the classroom and online in Virginia and North Carolina. I have settled my family in the middle of the woods in Ashe County to pursue a multitude of artistic endeavors.
