This class is for Beginner students who are interested in learning the basics of throwing on the wheel and hand building. This will include pinch pot, coil, and slab designed pieces. Students will explore a variety of methods to encourage their own personal style. Each class will begin with instruction on the potter’s wheel, then move to a project using hand building. Students will complete at least 5 different projects during the 8 weeks. For those interested in improving their skill at “throwing on the wheel”, it is highly encouraged that they plan to practice during open studio times during the week.
Craft Enrichment pottery classes draw on the individual technical and aesthetic interests of each instructor. Through group instruction, hands-on experiences and individual help, both beginning and advanced ceramics students will expand their knowledge and expertise. A variety of clays and glazes are available for Cone 6 oxidation firing.
