Description

Celebrate February, the month of care and love, with this creative half-day (Saturday, February 4th) wellness workshop! Throughout the afternoon, participants will engage in the restorative practice of visual journaling. You’ll learn about the purposes of visual journaling and begin (or continue) your own journal by exploring techniques in creating backgrounds, combining and layering ephemera, and transferring images. After bringing a few pages to life, you’ll have the opportunity to express yourself via guided reflective writing and drawing. Along with purpose and techniques, participants will also be introduced to resources, inspiration, and other tips for developing their own visual journaling practice at home or in another setting.

If you’re looking for more info… A visual journal is a creative combination of diary, doodle pad, to-do list, sketchbook, and scrapbook. Visual journaling is deeply personal and meaningful process that only requires a playful willingness to experiment with visual expression! You don’t have to have any arts training in order to do visual journaling. Similarly, visual journaling does not require expensive or expansive art supplies. One can create playful or meaningful pages using minimal supplies along with found objects and household materials. You’ll see… go ahead and register!

Supplies

Simply register for the class and purchase/provide your own journal! Creative supplies of all kinds will be provided– but feel free to bring your favorite materials too! No prior experience or artistic training required! This workshop supports both the emerging and advanced visual journaler in developing a meaningful personal practice in one’s life.
