Exploring Textures in Watercolor

JoAnn Pippin will show you some shortcuts using common household items to produce texture in watercolor paintings.  Each week, she will send a recorded demonstration, a reference photo, and a transferable drawing that will allow you to work on a painting using not only brushes, but also items such as straws, tape, cork, salt and old credit cards, matching the textures produced to the subject matter.   You will be amazed at the effects you produce!

Some experience with watercolor is beneficial.

Course Format

Online, featuring a mix of 4 recorded demonstration sessions and 5 live online sessions.   The 2-hour recorded sessions will feature a demonstration of techniques you can use to paint colorful subjects with a variety of textures. You will be able to replay the recording as you paint the demonstration painting or similar subjects. You will then send images of your work(s) to the instructor via email.  JoAnn will review the work in a weekly live critique.  The first class is a live session devoted to questions about supplies and equipment.
